Qajaq Aviisii​​liortutからのご挨拶

次回の広報から、各競技の結果について、参加者の過去の記録と合わせて詳細に記録を見ていきます。
また、若い年齢層に焦点を当てています。
最大部門の10歳代と4-6年歳の部門で、これらのグループから今後数年間でチャンピオンになる可能性を持って いる優れた若者が出てくるでしょう。

予想される参加者の数は今年は約100人、心強い兆候です。
2006年の約150人が2010年には50人落ちましたが、それ以来着実に毎年増えています。
スキルレベルも上がってきており、多くの参加者がハードトレーニングを受け、能力の高まりと共にいくつかの記録 が破られてきました。

競技の歴史において知られている人は、Maligiaq Padillaですね。
元Sisimiutの選手でした。
1998年、16歳の若さで優勝してからチャンピオンの座を前例のない９回獲得しました。
18歳になる前にこのタイトルを獲得した唯一のカヤッカーです。
しかし、彼は今年参加しないでしょう。
彼は今、アラスカのコツビューに奥さんと二人の子供と暮らしていて、競技への参加からは引退して次の世代へ引き 継ぎたいと望んでいました。
ただし、彼は以前の2005年の時と同じような、似たような気持でいることも言っていました。
考えを変えて競技を続けようかと。

土曜の夜にQaqortoqチームがSisimiutに到着 しました。
Ilulissatチームは明日到着する予定です。
１年間鍛えてきた結果を出す興奮する時が始まります。

Grønlandsmesterskaberne I kajak 2015 er lige ved at starte på mandag, her I Sisimiut, der afholdt konkurrencen sidste gang i 2011 og før det i 2006. De årlige konkurrencer i sejlads, vendinger, harpunkast og rebøvelser holdes som normalt tidligt i Juli måned, og slutter med at kåre årets kajakmand/kvinde. Dette år markerer 30-års jubilæet for etableringen af Qaannat Kattuffiat, og det er det 15. år at konkurrencen er åben for udlændinge.

De stærkeste deltagere der forventes at deltage i år, inkluderer disse nedenstående mænd og kvinder, som tidligere har vundet titlen mindst én gang:

Karla Reimer fra Ilulissat
Jens Peter Jeremiasen from Ilulissat, 
Marie Kristine Samuelsen, tidligere fra Paammiut, nu bosiddende i Nuuk
Kristian David Josefsen fra Nuuk,
Kunnuunguaq Davidsen fra Sisimiut
Ulunnguaq Josefsen fra Nuuk, tidligere Ulunnguaq Rosbach fra Sisimiut.

Men andre deltagere har tidligere år vist at de er stærke kandidater til at vinde titlen i år:

I år deltager i hvert fald 2 roere fra udlandet:
Freya Fennwood – og måske hendes far John - fra USA.
Mats Hallberg fra Sweden
Og Dubside vil deltage I rebøvelser / Allunaariaqataarneq.

I næste udgave af Hilsner fra Qajaq skribenterne, vil vi se nærmere på nogle af deltagerne og deres tidligere præstationer, også de yngre deltagere. Disse starter med de 4-6-årige, up gennem teenager-kategorierne, og adskillige, meget dygtige, kajakroere i disse grupper har potentialet til at blive fremtidens Årets Kajakmand/-kvinde.

Antallet af grønlandske deltagere er omkring 100, et opløftende tegn. Fra højdepunktet med 150 deltagere i 2006, faldt antallet af deltagere til 50 i 2010, men er steget hvert år siden da. Niveauet og præstationerne er gennem årene steget, og adskillige rekorder er blevet brudt, da mange deltagere har trænet hårdt og bidraget med imponerende evner.

De der kender til konkurrencens historie, ved at Maligiaq Padilla, oprindeligt fra Sisimiut, har vundet titlen ikke mindre end 9 gange, og begyndte sin sejrsrække i en højst uventet alder af kun 16 år (i 1998), og er den eneste kajakroer der er kåret til årets kajakmand før sin 18. fødselsdag. Men han vil ikke deltage i år. Han bor i disse år i Kotzebo i Alaska, med sin kone og to børn, og har ytret ønske om at trække sig tilbage fra konkurrencer, for at lade en ny generation af kajakroere tage over. Det skal dog siges at Maligiaq har luftet dén tanke helt tilbage i 2005, men ændrede da mening.

Holdet fra Qaqortoq ankom lørdag eftermiddag, og fra Ilulissat ankommer de søndag. Spændingen – og gensynsglæden – stiger efterhånden som endnu et QU Mesterskab langsomt begynder. Vi Qajaqskribenter vil forsøge at give fuld dækning af konkurrencerne, stemningen og resultaterne, løbende.

The Greenland National Kayak Competition for 2015 is about to start on Monday here in Sisimiut. The annual celebration of Greenland Kayak tradition includes racing, rolling, harpoon throwing, and rope gymnastics. Held usually in early July the event lasts about a week and ends with the determination of an overall male and female champion. The winning team is also determined. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the foundation of Qaannat Kattuffiat (the Greenland Kayak Association). It is also the 15th year the competition has been open to foreigners.

The field of top contenders expected to attend this year, include the following who have previously won the title at least once:
Maliina Amondsen from Nuuk,
Karla Reimer from Ilulissat,
Jens Peter Jeremiasen from Ilulissat, 
Marie Kristine Samuelsen, formerly of Paamiut, now living in Nuuk,
Kristian David Josefsen from Nuuk,
Kunnuunguaq Davidsen from Sisimiut,
Ulunnguaq Josefsen from Nuuk, formerly Ulunnguaq Rosbach of Sisimiut.

International competitors attending this year include:

In our next bulletin we will look in more detail at each of these competitors and their past records. We will also focus on the younger age categories. These start with the 4-6 years olds, on up through the teenage divisions. Several outstanding competitors in these groups have the potential to become champions in years to come.

The number of expected participants this year is about 100, an encouraging sign. From a high of approximately 150 people in 2006 the numbers dropped to a low of 50 in 2010, but have been steadily rising every year since then. The skill levels have followed a general rising trend, and several records have been broken as many competitors have trained hard and come with impressive abilities.

Those familiar with the competition history know that Maligiaq Padilla, originally from Sisimiut, has won the title an unprecedented 9 times, beginning his string of wins with a stunning upset in 1998 at the age of 16, the only kayaker to ever win the title before he reached his 18th birthday. However, he is not expected to attend this year. Residing these days in Kotzebu, Alaska, with his wife and two young children, he has indicated a desire to retire from active competition and let a new generation of kayakers take over. Yet it must be noted that Maligiaq has expressed the same or similar sentiments as far back as 2005, later changing his mind and continuing to compete.

As of Saturday night the Qaqortoq team has arrived in Sisimiut. The team from Ilulissat is due to arrive tomorrow. Excitement is starting to build as another year gets underway. With this communication we at Qajaq Aviisii aim to give you full coverage of the Championship as it happens.
